CEDARVILLE, Ohio - NAIA Region IX medalist Ben Smith and three Malone College teammates headline the 11-player All-AMC Men’s Golf Team for 2008. The group includes the top 10 players and ties in the AMC/NAIA Region IX Championship.
Smith, a sophomore from Carrollton, Ohio, repeated as medalist with a three-under par 54-hole total of 213. He fired rounds of 77-70-66 to win by two shots.
The Pioneers had three others players in the top five. Freshman Justin Lower was the runner-up, senior Darren Phipps was fourth, and sophomore Michael Strayer tied for fifth.
Ohio Dominican had three players on the All-AMC team. The threesome was Adam Arnett, Bryan Adkison, and Danny Sorgini. Jared Schlabach and Preston Knight of Mount Vernon Nazarene acheived the honor. Rounding out the squad were Cedarville’s Trevor Bowman and Walsh’s Kevin Tournoux.
