CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene outside hitter Jackie Albrecht has been named the American Mideast Conference Player of the Year in women’s volleyball for the 2009 season. She earned the recognition in a vote by the AMC coaches.
Albrecht, a 5-foot-10 junior from Lexington, Ohio, heads up the 12-member All-AMC First Team. She ranked second in the league with a 3.79 kills per set average in leading MVNU to a 32-8 regular season record, a runner-up finish in the standings at 10-2, and the #1 seed in the AMC Tournament.
Kristy Kamer of Shawnee State was voted the AMC Coach of the Year by her peers. She led the Bears to 30-3 overall record and a perfect 12-0 slate in the league as they captured their first-ever conference title.
Shawnee State’s Haley Holcomb was tabbed the Setter of the Year while Northwestern Ohio’s Kelly Oldiges earned Libero of the Year. Walsh rookie Julianne O’Donnell picked up Freshman of the Year honors.
