CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Notre Dame forward Luke Holmes is the 2009 Player of the Year in AMC men’s soccer following a vote of the league’s coaches.
Holmes, a sophomore from Oldham, England, was the runaway scoring leader in the AMC this fall. He piled up 28 goals and four assists for a total of 60 points. Holmes leads the country in goals scored and rates second in overall scoring with 3.53 points per game.
Mark Fish was selected Coach of the Year by his peers after leading Roberts Wesleyan to the AMC Championship and the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Raiders host the AMC Final Four on Nov. 13-14.
Houghton’s Daniel Smith is the AMC Freshman of the Year. He and the rest of his team were given the Fair Play Team Award which recognizes fair play and sportsmanship on the field of competition.
The All-AMC Men’s Soccer Team consists of two teams of 13 players each. A total of 24 additional players are honorable mention.
