CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Rio Grande outfielder Leah Hamman and Mount Vernon Nazarene righthander Candace White are the AMC Player and Pitcher of the Week in softball for their performances in games played on April 20-26.
Hamman, a 5-foot-7 junior from Lexington, Ohio, is the AMC Player of the Week. She posted a .542 batting average and a 1.042 slugging percentage as the Red Storm went 5-3.
Hamman was 13-for-24 at the plate with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, and nine RBI’s. She walked twice, scored 10 runs, and stole six bases. Rio Grande is 21-13 overall and 14-6 AMC.
White, a 5-foot-10 senior from Gahanna, Ohio, is the AMC Pitcher of the Week. She was 4-0 with a 1.89 ERA in five appearances to help the Cougars to a 5-1 week.
In 29 1/3 innings pitched, White allowed eight earned runs on 18 strikeouts and seven walks. She tossed back-to-back complete game victories over Rio Grande sandwiched in between complete-game wins over Urbana and Geneva. MVNU is 18-14 overall and 11-7 AMC.
